Brown Rice
Brown Rice

A traditional parsi disg which is made using caramelised onions and sugar which together impart a deep brown colour to this rice, This dish is traditionally served with Dhansak and Kachumbar salad in most Parsi homes.

    Jiva organics sona masuri hand pounded 1 cup

    Whole garam masala (each) 2 gram

    Peppercorns 5 Numbers

    Bay leaves 3 Numbers

    Sugar 1 1/2 Tsp.

    Water 2 cups

    Oil 2 tbsp.
Method

    Heat oil in a pan add whole garam masala, peppercorns, bay leaves onion slices, salt, cook the onions till it is brown in color.

    And add sugar lightly caramelize it & mix it well, add water (1:2), to the boiling water add Basmati Rice put the lid on and let it cook for 5 minutes.

    Then mix it once and again put the lid on and let it cook for some time in a slow flame and switch off the flame.

    And rest it for 5 minute then serve it.
