Jaggery Chocolate Butter Cookies

Whole wheat chocolate chip cookies are earthy and delicious, a great alternative to making cookies with regular flour and kid/toddler friendly too!

Ingredients

    Whole Wheat Flour / Kothumai Maavu – 1 Cup
  • Image
    Butter / Vennai – 1/2 Cup (should be at room temperature)
  • Image
    Jaggery / Sarkarai – 1/2 Cup
  • Image
    Cocoa Powder – 2 tbsp
Method

    In a pan, add jaggery along with 1/2 cup of water and mix well. Heat until the jaggery is melted completely. Cool down completely.

    In a mixing bowl, add butter. The butter should be at room temperature. Using a whisk, beat the butter until the color changes to pale yellow.

    Take the jaggery syrup and filter it into the mixture. Add the remaining ingredients as well.

    Mix well. Combine all the ingredients together.

    Add the cookie dough into a plastic cover attached with a piping nozzle. You can make the ball shaped cookies instead of using any cookie cutter or pipping nozzle.

    In a cookie tray, place a parchment paper and press the cookie dough on the tray one by one leaving some space between cookies.

    Pre-heat the oven to 350F/180C for 10 minutes or so.

    Place the cookie tray inside the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Every oven may vary so bake the cookies until the base begins to changes brown color. When you taken out, it might be soft cookies but after cooled down completely, the cookies will turn to be soft and crispy texture.
