Soft Rava Idli

Making a breakfast sometimes needs prior planning, especially if the recipe needs fermentation. Rava idli is an instant dish. You don't need to ferment this batter. I used medium-size rava (cream of wheat), yogurt, and fruit salt, along with the spices to make these idlis.

Ingredients

    Rava idli rice 1/2 cup

    Curd | Yogurt 1/4 cup
  • Image
    Green chili 1
  • Image
    Ginger grated 1/2 tsp
  • Image
    Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Image
    Chana dal 1/4 tsp
  • Image
    Urad dal 1/4 tsp
  • Image
    Oil 2 tsp
  • Image
    Asafoetida (hing)-1/2tsp
  • Image
    Curry leaves few
  • Image
    Coriander leaves few

    Salt as needed
Method

    Heat a pan 1/2 tsp oil, add mustard seeds and add kadalai paruppu, when start to crackle, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, dal sauté turns light brown. Add curry leaves.

    Add rava idli rice powder and mix well. Roast it on low flame until it turns light brown.

    Turn off the gas and keep the mixture aside for 5 mins

    Add curd, chopped green chilies, ginger and salt and add water mix it well.

    Keep batter aside for 15 minutes to sock.
  • Image
    Put the idli pot stem it on medium flame for 6-7 minutes. after 7 minutes, turn off flame and remove from steamer. remove prepared idli from it.
